The Aurora Diggers follows Softball Canada's Long Term Player Development Guide that standardizes the player development by building a foundation of Fundamental Movement Skills and introducing fitness and softball skills at the appropriate biological and chronological age.
We mandate that our Coaches are properly trained. Softball Canada and Softball Ontario offer ample resources to help support our coaches.
Softball Canada has developed a LTAD model that is softball-specific that relies on a combination of current sport-science research and best practices.
This model focuses on training, competition, and recovery principles and practices at stages of development from childhood through to adulthood, and from recreational sport to the elite competitive athlete.
The LTPD model also informs coaches, players, and parents about key developmental concepts and practices at each stage in the development pathway.
It addresses the physical, technical/tactical, mental, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of the player as they pass through each stage of development.
